Dressed in his signature black trousers, silver socks, silver shirt, black-sequined jacket, sequined glove, and black fedora, Jackson spun around, posed, and began moonwalking. Mobula rays make a habit of leaping out of the ocean in amazing acrobatic form, particularly when they gather in groups. This behaviour is still poorly understood by scientists, but possible reasons include communication, courtship, feeding, and even a behaviour to remove parasites. These long, flat, and streamlined rays with their wing- like fins, leap dramatically to heights of more than 2 metres (about 6.6 feet) above the ocean. (osof.org)

Rays or batoids are close relatives sharks and are the largest group of cartilaginous fishes, with well over 600 species in 26 families. Rays are distinguished by their flattened bodies, enlarged pectoral fins that are fused to the head, and gill slits that are placed on their ventral surfaces.
